The citizens of Pacifica realize that their surroundings contain many natural wonders and consequently place great emphasis on environmental sensitivity and responsibility. In partnership with local, area and national environmental groups, the community also supports a variety of in-town grassroots organizations that together strive to protect and improve Pacifica's natural surroundings.

Ongoing efforts include beach clean-ups, erosion control, native flora, fauna and topography restoration, endangered species protection, green building techniques promotion, alternative energy generation, sustainability practices, organic foods production and environmental education programs.
