Safety Tips and Rules
- Children and dogs in the park must be supervised at all times
- Dog park is for dog play
- Children should not run in the dog park
- Children should not be in the park unattended
When dogs are running and playful with other dogs, they often jump on each other, playfully nip and have a great time. When children run around, often yelling, the dogs forget the children are not canines, and will play with them like other dogs, jumping up on them, knocking them down, nipping at them and having a great time (for the dog- no so great for the child). Running children are naturally targets for the dogs to run after; it is part of the dogs' natural behavior. It has nothing to do with aggression. Your family time at the park should be pleasant and happy, and the rules about running around are to protect your family (both canine and your child).
Please do not bring dog or human food into the park
When food is brought into the park, dogs begin to guard or fight over this highly valued resource. Normally pleasant dogs can become aggressive over the potential of food. It is easier to just avoid the issue and not bring food into the park. We want the time you spend at the park to be pleasant and this is a hug issue to control.
Paw Toughening
Sometimes dogs paws need to be toughened up to play rough on non-grassy areas. There are several dogs balms and ointments available. They can be found online and at pet supply stores
