• Operation Brown Bag - Second Harvest Food Bank's Brown Bag program provides bi-weekly nutritious groceries to senior individuals (ages 60+) and disabled individuals (ages 55+) at distribution sites in Santa Clara County and San Mateo County. In Pacifica, the Brown Bag program is available on the 1st and 3rd Friday of every month at 9am at St. Peter Catholic Church. • Produce Mobile - Second Harvest Food Bank delivers produce on the 2nd Monday of every month to the Pacifica Baptist Church from 12:30 - 4:00 pm. To be served at the Produce Mobile, you must self-certify that your household meets income guidelines based on the Federal Poverty Level. HICAP (Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program) is a state and federally funded program that provides free, unbiased counseling and community education on Medicare and related health insurance issues.  We provide one-on-one counseling by telephone appointment, and make Medicare presentations throughout San Mateo County.

HICAP counselors are registered by the California Department of Aging and help Medicare beneficiaries understand their options and make informed decisions about their healthcare. HICAP program staff and volunteers DO NOT sell, endorse or recommend any specific insurance companies, plans or products. Counselors help explain health insurance benefits, rights, and options, Medicare Part D (prescription drug coverage), Medicare Part C (Medicare Advantage Plans), supplemental insurance (Medigap), Medicare Savings Programs, long term care insurance, and Medicare billing, complaints and appeals, and Medi-Cal as it relates to Medicare (dually eligible beneficiaries). • Medicare - Medicare is the federal health insurance program for people who are 65 or older, certain younger people with disabilities, and people with End-Stage Renal Disease (permanent kidney failure requiring dialysis or a transplant, sometimes called ESRD).

• Medi-Cal - Medi-Cal is free or low-cost health coverage for children and adults with limited income and resources. Medi-Cal covers low-income adults, families with children, seniors, persons with disabilities, children in foster care as well as former foster youth up to age 26, and pregnant women.
• CareAdvantage - CareAdvantage is a Health Plan of San Mateo program that combines your Medicare and Medi-Cal benefits in one simple plan. This plan offers lots of additional benefits, like free taxi rides to approved medical appointments, vision care, and coverage for different types of long-term care services. You need to have Medicare Parts A & B and full-scope Medi-Cal to qualify. You must be a resident of San Mateo County. People with ESRD cannot apply (end-stage renal disease). People with developmental disabilities are eligible to apply.

• Rebuilding Together - Through volunteers and donations, Rebuilding Together makes repairs that improve the health, safety, and independence of our neighbors. Rebuilding Together serves senior citizens, single parents, grandparents raising grandkids, people with disabilities, families with children, veterans, children caring for their ailing parents.

The Alzheimer's Association, in partnership with the County of San Mateo, is offering a free program to assist persons with memory problems who live alone. • Friendship Line - Our connections to one another are what bind us to life, yet for isolated individuals and their often equally isolated caregivers, these connections tend to disappear. The Friendship Line at Institute on Aging is the nation’s only 24-hour toll-free hotline for older and disabled adults. Trained staff and volunteers make and receive calls to and from individuals who are either in crisis or just in need of a friend.

Grant monies from the Fund can help families or seniors in any number of ways, such as paying the rent so they can stay in their home, assisting with delinquent utility bills, covering a security deposit so they can transition out of a homeless shelter, or buying a wheelchair or other essential medical equipment that they couldn’t otherwise afford. • Kinship Support Services Program - Family members often step up to fill the gap when crisis, substance abuse, mental illness, incarceration, economic hardship, divorce, domestic violence, or other challenges take parents from a child. These courageous "kinship caregivers" can get the help they need through the Edgewood Kinship Support Services Network (Edgewood Kinship).
