In 1996, the city council authorized the expenditure of $3,000 in narcotics seizure funds toward the purchase of a 1959 Chevrolet Biscayne, a project that came to be known as Operation`59. With the help of many community donations, the car was refurbished as a duplicate of one of the two original Pacifica Police Department patrol vehicles. Its primary use is as a crime prevention tool - the vintage car is a great way to initiate conversation between teenagers and police officers. The `59 Chevy is a regular in the Fog Fest parade and is exhibited at a variety of community events.

After the 2007 Terra Nova High School Auto Show, the vintage police car underwent major upgrades at the hands of Bill Meyerhoff’s crew at Seaview Tire & Brake. Bill has donated the parts and labor to install a modern power disk brake system in the 48-year-old police car. Recently the car spend time at Hack's Auto Body where they worked on rust removal and repainting.
