Pacifica has a total of 12 children playground areas. Playground equipment is inspected on a daily basis for the safety of the children. All playground equipment is being replaced to meet the new California park standards.
Pacifica's playgrounds are filled with ADA approved fir bark that must be swept back on a daily basis. Areas underneath slides and swings are filled daily with bark. All of the city's children playground areas are used daily, especially during the spring and summer months.
Play It Safe
The California Department of Public Health recently issued guidelines for reopening playgrounds, but COVID-19 continues to pose a severe risk to communities and requires all people in California to follow necessary precautions.
In order to best protect our community and your family, please follow these simple steps to help keep our outdoor playgrounds safe, open and fun.
Playground Visitors Must Follow These Rules
- Wear a mask - Everyone 2 years and older should wear a mask covering their mouth and nose.
- Children must be actively supervised at all times.
- Maintain distance - Maintain physical distance of 6 feet between individuals from different households and prevent crowding of children.
- No food or drink.
- Wash hands - Wash or sanitize your hands before and after you visit. Park users are encouraged to bring hand sanitizer.
- Share our space - Please pay attention to our new playground capacities – maximum capacity signs will be posted at each amenity. Please limit your visit to 30 minutes when others are waiting.
- Plan ahead - Visit the park at different times or days to avoid crowds and waits. Elderly individuals and people with underlying medical conditions should avoid playgrounds when others are present.
- Know when to stay home - Please stay home if you are experiencing any signs of illness, no matter how mild it seems. Play It Safe!
- Please be kind to one another - With so much happening in the world, we can all use a little extra kindness.
It Takes All of Us
These rules are in place so that families can enjoy our playgrounds again. If you or your child are unable to comply with these safety rules, it's best that you refrain from use of the playground areas at this time. Please also understand that even though we have guidelines in place, sharing high-touch equipment still poses a risk to contracting COVID-19.
Lastly, we do not have the ability to monitor all of our playgrounds for compliance, and we cannot possibly disinfect each playground daily or in-between use. We are doing our best to present the rules, provide hand sanitizer stations, and disinfecting playgrounds at least once a week. Keeping these playgrounds open is ultimately up to you. Thank you for doing your part with following the rules for your safety and everyone’s safety.
Please play safe! We are all in this together.
